Coach Travel
5 star Luxury Coach Travel to Melbourne Airport & return. Transfers around Norfolk Island with Pine Tree Tours.

Climate
Sub - Tropical average rainfall 1328 per year. Idylic days mid - winter, with temperatures ranging from 12 degrees at night to 19 - 20 degrees during the day.

Clothing
Comfortable and casual for day and night, it is wise to pack a jacket and light nylon jacket, strong shoes for walking and a torch for night outings, remember your hat and sunscreen.

Currency
The unit for exchange is the Australian Dollar. The Commonwealth Bank and West Pac have branches at Burnt Pine, the Commonwealth Bank has an ATM, traveller's cheques and most credit cards are widely accepted.

Time Difference
One and half hours ahead of Australian Eastern Standard Time.

Entry
A valid passport or document of identity is required for travel to Norfolk Island.

Electricity
240 volts - a c, 50 cycles, 3 pin plug. as diesel generators make electricity, a power surge protector device is recommended for electronic equipment.

Baggage Allowance
Passengers are entitled to carry one suitable suitcase per person not exceeding 20 kg in weight, personal items should be carried in a travel bag.
Passengers are to ensure that luggage meets requirements, as overweight items will not be carried.

Travel Insurance
Passengers must take out full comprehensive Travel Insurance.
Please Note: Travellers are not covered by the Medicare System on Norfolk Island.


Single Supplement
Where a single passenger is willing to share accommodation with fellow single passengers, the company will endeavour to find another suitable traveller to share. The company otherwise accepts no responsibility for the suitability of the rooming partner.
Where a single passenger is not willing to share, or a sharing companion cannot be found, an extra charge will apply.

Language
English but you will hear the Islanders speaking Norfolk, a Language derived from the speech of the Bounty Mutineers and their Tahitian wives, who settled on the Islands in 1790.

ITINERARY
Day 1

Depart Warrnambool KFC Corner Raglan Parade picking up en route, travelling to Melbourne Airport.

Depart Melbourne Airport en route to Norfolk Island via Sydney Airport.

Pinetree Tours will meet you and transfer you to your accommodation on Norfolk Island.
Day 2

This half day tour is a must for every visitor! Visit historic Kingston, Cascade, Longridge and much more. See and hear about the famous convict buildings, beautiful beaches and golf course, the renowned Melanesian Chapel, our Government, laws and lifestyle. Enjoy views from Queen Elizabeth lookout and other scenic spots on this full commentary conducted tour. Rest for delicious morning tea in the garden of an historic island home built by Fletcher Christian and Matthew Quintal.

PM Free Afternoon

6.00 pm Progressive Dinner - Enjoy a 4 course meal progressing to different island homes and restaurants. A fun night and a good way to meet the local people and sample some of the island dishes.
Day 3

9.00 am Half Day Tour - Join us on an 'in depth' tour of the historic Georgian settlement of Kingston. Walk through the cemetery and hear the history of interesting convict and colonial headstones, hear stories of the houses along Quality Row and visit the restored Military Barracks now the Legislative Assembly Chambers. Walk through the ruins of the New Gaol, visit the All Saints Church which was in convict times the Commissariat Store. Morning tea included.

PM Free afternoon

5.00 pm Island Fish Fry - Enjoy a feast of island dishes, salads, homemade bread and fresh fried fish, followed by island desserts and tea/coffee. Watch the sun set from Puppy's Point on Norfolk's beautiful western coastline.

7.30 pm Mutiny on the Bounty Show - See descendants of the mutineers bring the story of the famed 'Mutiny on the Bounty' and historic events to life in a 90 minute show performed in an outdoor amphitheatre on Norfolk's western coastline.
Day 4

9.00 am Convict Settlement Tour - Take your choice of One Hundred Acres Reserve or for the more energetic, a leisurely 3.5 km walk through scenic Mt Bates to Captain Cook Monument. At the end of both walks we meet on the cliff top for a delicious breakfast barbecue.

1.00 pm Island Culture Tour - Experience the culture of our forebears! From our mutineer ancestors and their Tahitian wives came the arts of wookcarving, weaving, cooking and our Norfolk language. On this tour see a demonstration using Norfolk timber and fish skins, visit island homes for a talk on our cooking and a lecture about the Norfolk Island language. An example of island weaving will be given after our afternoon tea break. We call in at the Historical Engine Museum to view the exhibits which have been an important part of Norfolk's early mechanical history.

6.30 pm Cats Cafe - A true Norfolk Feast! Featuring a wide selection of traditional island dishes. Baked and fried fish, chicken and meat dishes, an assortment of salads and vegetables followed by a choice of desserts and tea or coffee. Pianola singalongs!
Day 5

7.00 am Breakfast Bush Walk - This tour takes you to one of the most beautiful gardens on the island. Marvel at the beauty of Plun Park - a private garden and hobby farm in Watermill Valley. Visit Peter Christian's kentia palm plantation. Travel to Anson Bay to visit a small hobby farm which has been instrumental in improving our local livestock industry. Close by see a demonstration at Norfolk's major pottery and browse at the Cottage Pottery shop. Morning tea and rest stop at a scenic stop along the way.

PM at Leisure

6.00 pm James' Places - Enjoy a delicious 2 course dinner at one of Norfolk's most popular restaurants.
TBA Sound and Light Show - Nightfall at Kingston brings a different mood to the convict settlement. The stillness and the stars are there just as they were before mankind arrived in 1788. However, with dramatic use of real life sounds together with theatrical lighting and costumed actors, the stillness is broken as broken as Pintree tours takes you through the horrifying decades of Norfolk Island's convict era.
Day 6

9.00 am Behind the Hedges

9.00 am Greenfingers - Another tour featuring some of the island's most lovely gardens! This exclusive tour begins with a visit to Norfolk's major Orchard 'Natural Choice'. Your hostess Paddy Cavill will explain his own horticultural style of gardening and show her specialist lowchill apple cultivation. Throughout the morning we visit a nursery owned and operated by a young Norfolk Islander, climb through a giant Banyan Tree as well as visit a gorgeous private garden with a spectacular view of Kingston and Nepean and philip Island's. Morning tea is served in the garden of beautiful, historic Music Valley at Kingston. Our local historian will give you a talk on this area with a history dating to 1788.

PM Afternoon Free

5.55 pm Night as a Convict - A fun night out for all ages! Dress as a convict - join with the commandant for an evening of gaiety, feasting and singing. Great food! Great fun! (outfit supplied). This is the most popular feature dinner on Norfolk.
Day 7

Morning Free. This morning is at leisure. Please note the shops close at 12.30 pm today.

1.00 pm Jimbo's 4WD - Join Sam and his Island staff - all direct descendants of the Bounty Mutineers; on an exciting 4 hour tour to points of Norfolk, accessible only by 4WD. This back of beyond tour takes you through private properties and the national park featuring spectacular scenery, native flora and bird life. It also includes delicious home made cakes with tea and coffee. Don't expect a rough race through the scrub. Drivers are conscientious and very knowledgeable. All vehicles are comfortable modern 4WD's. Great for all ages.

6.00 pm RSL 2 Course Dinner - Enjoy a delicious 2 course dinner with entertainment at the Norfolk Island RSL Club. A great place to meet the locals.
7.15 pm Wonderland by Night - The setting is 10 acres of magical Norfolk pines and bushland lit up like an enchanted forest. Meander along (or ride in the 'moon buggy') a winding pathway with Archie, a descendant of the Bounty mutineers, as he recites his poems and lights up the dioramas. Then afterward enjoy a light supper.
Day 8

TBA Transfer to the Airport - Pinetree tours will return you to the airport from your accommodation to catch your return flight home.
